The Magic of the Season - G's Country Barn

The Magic of the Season

As we approach Thanksgiving next week, filled with fall decor and delicious food, it's hard not to start thinking about how truly blessed I am. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it is all about family or those people you love absolutely most in your life. While there is a lot of cooking involved, there is a lot of relaxing and no added pressures of gifts, wrapping, or decorating. Instead, it focused on family and what it means to each one of us.

For me, there is nothing more important to me than my family. This includes both the family my husband and I have created, which continues to grow with the families that our children have created, along with the family that raised me. There are so many memories and traditions that are close to my heart on both my Mom and Dads sides of the family. Holidays were so important when I was growing up, and it has always been essential for us to create that for our children and grandchildren as well.

Christmas Is Right Around The Corner
Now that being said, my other favorite Holiday is Christmas. And after Thanksgiving, it's all about Christmas! I love the music, the Christmas decor, the lights, the tree, the food, and most of all, the family. And I am so happy to say that now our family is bigger than ever, with two new members added this year. Our first grandchild was born on Thanksgiving Day last year, and our second grandchild was born in September of this year.

I love the whole idea of Christmas. The magic that this time of year illuminates is just mesmerizing. I have already decorated our home for Christmas, which is not typical for me! While preparing the store for Christmas, the spirit just overtook me, and I continued that back home.

Now at home, it takes me about a good week to decorate to create that magical feeling in our home for the Holidays. Every year I do something different, but I always hold on to the classics. I just love the traditions this time of year brings, from the family photos, the traditional cookie baking, the Pulla baking, shopping for the people I love, and yes, even the wrapping with the special bows I create every year.

Christmas Eve was always a special tradition on my Mom's side of the family. I so looked forward to going to Ma and Pa's every day, but especially on Christmas Eve. Now, this is a tradition my daughter, Kelsey, is continuing in our Family. From the time the kids were very little, I have looked forward to Christmas Morning. I sometimes think more than they did. The looks on their faces as they opened their treasures are something I can't forget. There is no better time of year for me, and I am lucky enough to share my life with someone who loves Christmas and family as much as I do. I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving and Christmas as much as I plan to treasure mine.
